Day Trip to Wadi Mibam & Bimmah Sinkhole

Are you ready to explore yet another beautiful place, Wadi Mibam has grown in popularity in recent years, It’s located at the far edge of Wadi Tiwi, yet another popular destination.

Mibam has perfect mix beautiful waterfalls lush green garden and crystal clear pools, in order to get to mibam one has to pass through narrow rough roads slicing through small villages barren mountains and harrowing cliffs but excitement only begins as you descend towards the wadi which is even more picturesque from crawling down giant rocks to swimming in cool emerald waters to diving in breathtaking nature water pools many describe Mibam as paradise rediscovered.

The villages of Mibam, rely in agriculture for the day to day living there are numerous fruit and crops that are grown here what dates as one of their primary produce, but its weekends everything’s comes in to action because during the weekends both amateur and professional hike and other outdoor lovers visit Mibam because of its grand beauty one that is now starting to rival wadi shab and wadi Bani Khalid so make sure mibam it’s in your bucket list when you’re exploring Sultanate of Oman. 

After lunch, on the way back to Muscat we stop at Bimmah sinkhole (swimming in the sinkhole lake is possible) Bimmah Sinkhole a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. A lake of turquoise waters, it’s 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep, it’s only about 600 m away from the sea, between the coastal towns of Dibab and Bimmah village, the sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to the dissolution of the underlying limestone, to preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a park there.

From Bimmah Sinkhole we drive back to Muscat       

From there we drive towards Wadi Ghul the village of Wadi Ghul 2000 years old located at the foot of Mountain Ghul and can be seen on your way to Jabal Shams, it has been abandoned by its inhabitants and no one remained in, it has been built of solid stones.

From there we drive into Wadi Nakhar its beautiful sites, a spectacular view which derives its name from the local word (necrosis), which means the process of rock sculpture «erosion» as the water of this valley formed during the time periods.

Wadi Al Nakhar is one of the deepest valleys in Oman because of its geographical characteristics, the great gap in Jabal Shams is considered to be the most important source of water since its large opening leads to valleys and reefs that form the valley of Al Nakhar.

From there we drive up the Mountain, this mountain road drives up to the Jebel Shams Mountain (The Grand Canyon of Oman) 3009 Meters it’s one of the most adventurous Mountains in Oman, offering exciting off-road experiences and fantastic views, we reach the canyon view which is 2000 meters we stop there and we enjoy the view and photo.

From Jabal, shams we drive back to Muscat
