Jebel Harim, which translates as the ‘mountain of women’ and at 2000m the highest peak in Musandam. The mountain takes its name from the days when local women would retreat to
Caves up here in order to avoid being carried off by pirates or rival tribes while their menfolk were away on extended fishing or trading expeditions. The actual summit is home to a radar station monitoring shipping way below in the Straits of Hormuz and is out of bounds, although there are superb all-round views from the road, with breathtaking views back to Khasab and onwards towards Dibba. Many of the rocks up here are also studded with superbly preserved fossils, offering the remarkable sight of ancient submarine creatures – molluscs, fish, clams and numerous trilobites – now incongruously stranded near the summit of one of Arabia’s highest mountains.

From Khasab city, we’ll drive up into the mountains of the Musandam Peninsula, making pit-stops at viewpoints along the way. The village of Sayah is on the cards, too. This picturesque hamlet tumbles down the hillside, and is still occupied by desert-dwelling Bedouin people.

Past the summit, there are sensational views of the road ahead, as it runs along a narrow ridge before descending towards the Rawdah Bowl, plus stomach-churning views into the deep gorge below. The bowl has several interesting features including the local stone-built houses known as bayt al qifl,or the ‘house of locks’. The area has a long history of settlement, as can be seen from the pre-Islamic tombstones (lying close to the road) made either from luminous yellow sandstone or grey limestone and etched with script or pictographs. Surrounding the outskirts of the village are old cemeteries, evidence of population for many years. There are about 500 graves in this cemetery on a plateau just off Wadi Bih, the bowl was formerly used as a local tribal battle ground, which presumably accounts for the large number of people buried here.

7- Khasab City tour & Bhuka Fort visit / Time: 3-4 hours

The next is Bukha Fort; It is located in the tip portion of the Arabian Peninsula that reaches out toward Iran and the straight of Hormuz. The 25KM coastal road from Khasab to Bukha is thrilling and winding ride with sea to one side and blasted mountain on the other. While pass thru the village Al Harf, you will have a closer view to Iran over the straight of Hormuz. This magnificent fort is in the most picturesque location – the sea is just in front of it in a perfect crescent bay while tall mountains rise precipitously just above. The fort was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese and changed many hands since then. There are two forts await your exploration here. The first, Al Qala’s Fort, actually lies in ruin; but you can still climb its imposing central tower to get a great view of the fort’s crumbling walls and the bay below. Nearby, you’ll find the better preserved Bukha Fort. Restored in 1990, Bukha Fort is possibly even older than Khasab Fort.

Trip begins in the morning with pick up at 6am from any Dubai hotel heading straight to Dibba Check Post arriving at 7.30am. Proceed to Wadi Bih, also known as the Grand Canyon of UAE, rising above 1000m above the sea level. Visit the famous dam whilst enjoying your breakfast packed in boxes. By 9.15 you will reach the highest point of Wadi Bih where you can capture plenty of picturesque of old stone houses and backgrounds before leaving for fishing village. Arrive Dhow boarding point by 1045 and sample their refreshing welcome drink. The most awaited dhow cruise would commence in 15 minutes to take you through the exotic locations for an hour. This is followed by snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, banana boat ride and relaxing by the beach. At 1300 hrs. Lunch will be served at the Dhow followed by another hour of cruise, visiting the nearby cave by 1500 hrs. Spend an hour exploring the magnificent natural grotto. By 1600 hours we let you indulge in fishing and would wind up by 1700 to Dhow Boarding Point and departure to Dubai and drop off by 18:30hrs.
